Burning man Festival by Gabriel Jeffrey

I've always been fascinated by the Burning Man Festival. Just like the Salt Flat Speed Trials at Bonneville or Lake Gairdner here in South Australia, there's something about vast expanses of flatness that gives whatever you stick on it a sculptural quality. We just haven't got anything like Burning Man in Australia. Good thing too, pretty much all of out vast expanses of flatness are scared sites. Check out thes ephotos of Gabriel Jeffrey... surreal! Shimano MTB x R E A K T

Nice to see Shimano maintaining somewhat of an edge over Campagnolo (when it comes to its marketing collateral at least). Chicago based studio Reakt has created this campaign focusing on the riders rather than the products, and top marks go to both client and agency! Via Design You Trust!

Lights on the stones on backed-up drain

Hand built one of a kind birdhouse was made for the Board Rescue Urban Outfitters window display by Judi Oyama, old school skate legend! This one is for a fund raiser and only available through this auction. This is currently hanging in the window display at the Downtown Santa Cruz Urban Outfitters until July 31st when this auction ends and we will be shipping all paypal paid final auctions. Boards in the background are not part of this sale, these are images from the window display. More on her flickr!
That's Steve Caballero on the deck at 14 years old!

Time goes by so slowly for those who wait

One of my favourite blogs, Secret Forts, recently dropped into the workspace of one of my favourite leathergoods manufacturers, BillyKirk, and shot enough quick flicks to give a good insight into their production facility! Here you can see the BillyKirk D-Lock holders, toe straps and top tube bags being created, and get a bit of an idea about the detail and design ethos that goes into each of their pieces. Good to see the Freeman Transport Gravel Racer has found a corner of the workshop.

I know that it's not easy to be calm when you've found something going on

My mate Dan from Flailings is in the US on an all-conquering tour, I've been checking out his flickr with great interest, and these shots of the polo match really took my eye. Bike polo is truly becoming the next World Game! Have fun Dan!

I must admit I felt a little uneasy when she bent to tie the lace on my shoe

Exactly what I am looking for in a skateboard or a surfboard. Buddy Carr Skateboards. Subtle graphics, matching ephemera and clean packaging. Head over to the website and check out the Hello deck and shirt while you're there, too. Inspirational! Designed by the mutli-talented NY designer Antonio Carusone. Spotted on my new favourite blog: ECYCLISTA.

Those who came before me lived through their vocations

Some really nice shots by Blake from MASH SF of the opening of the Revisit Tour of California opening at Project Space. Spotted at My Love For You, more on Blake's flickr!
