Stevie Gee does Deus Bali

Stevie Gee is one of my favourite modern artists, and after teaming up with one of my favourite magazines, Sideburn, he's now hooked up with one of my favourite international motorcycle conglomerates, Deus Ex Machina, for a solo show at their Bali outpost. Their blog shows some great shots of the man in action. How I wish I could make it along!

Once again I'm completely impressed and amazed by how an artist can apply their style to an array of media and still maintain a recognisable consistency. Great stuff Will R! Fafi is one of my all-time favourite artists/designers simply for her prolific work and her collaborations with adidas. So if any local brats start hanging around her fierce bike with covetous eyes, I wouldn't hesitate to take 'em down! Lucky Fafi is fierce enough herself to see them off! I've never been a huge fan of Marilyn Manson's music, but I actually can relate to to these watercolors of his. Not the subject matter per se but the medium, and the childlike naïveté. These are part of a collaborative exhibition with David Lynch in Vienna called Genealogies of Pain (naturally). All images courtesy of the Sydney Morning Herald.

You're the pretender, what if I say that I'll never surrender

For me, to see a custom painted Pegoretti in the steel would be akin to visiting the Sistine Chapel. This is one of my favourite works by Dario yet. He contributed his artistic skills to a titanium frame by Darren Mark Crisp, a very talented builder who resides in Tuscany, Italy. Darren specialises in ultra specific custom ti frames, and places strong emphasis on the importance of 'Knowing Your Builder'. I'm gonna knock with the jungle boogie

We were graced by the presence of a very talented Tasmanian artist in the studio last week called Dane, and after he mentioned he was a surfer as well we had even more to talk about. We discussed a common interest in painting our own skate and surf boards, and today he sent me a link to Sea Surfboards in Byron Bay. Sea Surfboards is a group of artists and shapers who are creating some very inspiring designs and combining their craft with providing an outlet for their artists to exhibit. I love the piece above by Ozzy Wright, especially since Sydney hasn't had a dry day in what feels like weeks... Thanks Dane!
