You know better daddy I can't stand it 'cause you put me down

I've never been a huge fan of Marilyn Manson's music, but I actually can relate to to these watercolors of his. Not the subject matter per se but the medium, and the childlike naïveté. These are part of a collaborative exhibition with David Lynch in Vienna called Genealogies of Pain (naturally). All images courtesy of the Sydney Morning Herald.

My veins are the tracks, the city is my brain

This is Mitja, an ex-Teddy Boy who got that tattoo of Bill Haley when he was 13. That's his chopper, which he rode 230km last year to a show in Sweden. Hardcore Mitja! Thanks Full-Frokkul-Fiasco!

How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?

It is pissing down in Sydney today. Still, spare a thought for the bike couriers out there, wet through, risking life and limb battling traffic to deliver your goods on time and intact. Getting cold out there, too. To all the couriers Down Under, you are all legends, and my heroes. Keep going. Pete is a legend too. He was a long time courier when I started, and he still rides occasionally. But every day, he's blowing his bugle to the denizens of Martin Place. Thanks Pete, for putting a little bit of music in everyone's day.

No stop signs, speed limit, nobody's gonna slow me down

Juliet from Charge Bikes continues to innovate, both on two wheels and in the fashion and design sector. Her side project, HELL YEAH has extended their range of bike metal tshirts with a couple of new designs, and I'm definitely into the BIKING METAL PUNKS FOREVER shirt, hell yeah! Get on over to the webshop and put your order in, because they won't hang around long,  I'm sure.

And I can still hear my old hound dog barkin', chasin' down a hoodoo there

The subject matter might not be to everyone's taste but I was so impressed with this show by Sean Coggins at Access Gallery in Vancouver, and his use of the gallery space to accentuate his work. Coggins thesis is demonstrating the spirit of Black Metal, cunningly entitled 'I Dream Of Lars Ulrich Being Thrown Through The Bus Window Instead Of My Master Mystikall Klif Burton'. The pieces vary in media, yet combine seamlessly to create a whole new environment. The floor tiles and even the radiator seem to be appropriate, providing an ancient and geometrically modern juxtaposition. The opening's on Friday February 20 at 7pm, if you're in Vancouver, check it out. If you can't make it, you'll have to settle for the images on the 01 Blog. Do it.

Let me hear your body talk

Seeing as how it's Australia Day tomorrow, it's officially Australian Music Monday in the Studio. We're up to 'Let's Get Physical' by Olivia Newton-John. Why don't you hold your own Australian Music Monday? We've had a laugh!

It's skin week on 002, here's a grand bit of ink from Daniel Albrigo. He's also put out a book of his incredible paintings with an intro by Genesis P. Orridge from Thee Temple of Psychick Youth. Who? If you have to ask, you'll never know!

He's walking around like he's number one

I'm gonna jinx it all and say I'm glad I'm not getting asked if I'm gonna see the Violent Femmes like I'm getting asked if I'm gonna see the Pixies when they get down here.
