Pony Bikes vs the ACCC

My best mate Sasha runs the best little bike shop in Melbourne, Pony Bikes. She and Fyxomatosis Andy were interviewed recently by The Age to comment on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's intent to fine bike shops for selling fixed gear bikes without back brakes. read the whole article here... Yet another attempt by the man to sterilise free thinking and de-sensitise our society.

Everybody keeps on talking about it, nobody's getting it done

Lord knows I've always had a thing for slender Italians, so it's no surprise that I experienced a slight tension and tingle when Fyxomatosis Andy posted these pics as a teaser of the red Pinarello he and Dan from Shifterbikes have recently built up to their usual high level of quality. Head over to Fyx TV and scope it out, well worth it. And if that got your blood and desire levels up, Pony Bikes has a blue Pinny in immaculate condition built up as a single speed which is up for sale at the amazing price of AU$800. If you're in Melbourne, drop into Sasha's shop at 87 Capel Street or check out the other photos on her blog! Someone make it your own before my guilty hand drops down my wallet...

When they reach their teens, that's when they all get mean

Well done to everyone involved with the 2010 edition of the Melbourne Roubaix, and especially Andy from Fyxomatosis for creating this magical Melburn Hardcore long sleeve jersey to celebrate the event. Head over to the Fyx Store and get yours before they all disappear, if they haven't already... Otherwise you'll be really sad and have to wait for next year. Wow!

Click clock, find your own way to stay

I've just been paying my respects at the houses of the holy: fyxomatosis has posted these portraits and details of the second most gorgeous frame ever welded BRAISED together (sorry, but my heart belongs to another). This Euro Sport has exactly the same crimped tubeset as my beloved Conti, and I've only ever come across another marque that utilised this technique, a Titan. Immaculate build, Andy, and stupendous photography, once again! CANNOT WAIT to get the Contessa back on the road!

Forgetful heart, like a walking shadow in my brain

More utter bicycle magic from the White Master of Fyxomatosis, this time a Merckx with a Super Record gruppo. Feast your eyes upon the rest of the images on the Fyx flickr!

My mama said, baby don't ride that crazy horse

I'm trying my darndest to not let my blog turn into a Chicks on Bikes, but what can I say. I just appreciate fine things, beautiful things, well made and interesting things.
Mr White from the always immensely readable Fyxomatosis has done it again, combining all of the above into a fine shoot. He also does weddings. Check it.

The most gorgeously stupid thing I ever cut in the world

Adam Eldridge's build is coming along nicely. Delta's should look a treat when it's all finished. Check out the rest of the pics at Stan Ridge Speed. Speaking of which, I got my 'Don't Stop Me' shirt from Fyxomatosis today! Rad! Thanks Andy! Get yours HERE!

Doing the mess around

Was going through the archives last night and found this pic of TC, on Australia's first and last L 'Eroica. That was a good ride. Really should do it again!

When the world above needs your blood

Fyxomatosis's build's continue to make me feel really good about bicycles in general. Quite a lucky man to be able to work on such gems. Like this Merckx, for example. purposefully left incomplete so you can imagine what finishing touches you'd like to see on there yourself! Handy! While you're checking out the rest of the top photography of the Merckx, have a look at the Fyx Gallery of Past Builds... My favourite's the Bianchi.

It's not a case of aiming to please

It's been exciting (and frustrating!) to see some pics of the 2009 Tokyo Cycle Messenger World Champs starting to filter through the blogs, looks like everyone's having a great time so far! Spotted Yogi, Skin Grows Back Jim, Pommy Chris and here's Fyxomatosis Andy hanging out with Prolly is Not Probably John. Check out Prolly's Flickr for his Japan Trip pics. Can't wait to get to Tokyo myself, period, but seriously wish I was there this week! No sign yet of Candy Cranks Meg, Primate Frames Tarn and The Wasp...

Some come up and some come young

Them's REAL sapphires. Possibly the greatest post in all of Fyxdom. Whiteism's last before he heads to Japan to commune with brothers and sisters in the Tokyo Cycle Messenger World Championships. Thank you, Shifty, REPRESENT! Check out the Shifterbikes photos, this is why we pay him the big bucks.

The crowd roars, it's deep and so unhealthy

My mate Guy could do a lot worse if he gave up his lust for celeste than buy this Benotto for sale on eBay at the moment. I, 002, will stand up and give my word that this ride has integrity stuffed right down to the bottom bracket, because it's being sold by Fyxomatosis. And that's no bull. Jump on it before Guy does. Check out the rest of the Benotto photoshoot HERE, and become part of the legend!
