Happy birthday Winona!

Happy birthday Winona Ryder!

I thought hell a kiss is just a kiss but this is...

John Cooper Works (JCW) is a company originally founded in the year 2000 by John Cooper, the legendary racing car constructor and tuner responsible for, amongst other achievements, the Mini Cooper. Prudently, they have also started manufacturing bicycles. Thankfully they seem to be quality machines that are styled and specced to maintain the integrity of the Cooper marque. Reynolds 531 tubing, real Brooks saddles and tape, and Sturmey Archer drivetrains. Well done, Cooper!

Stole many a mans soul and faith

Really quite incredible work by Stephane Halleux, steam-punk sculptures constructed with leather and found objects. Love this one, of course. Thanks to Kitsune Noir!

Happy birthday K. K. Downing!

Today's celebrity Scorp is K. K. Downing, guitarist for Judas Priest. Happy birthday Kenneth!

Don't it hurt so bad, when you're standin' in the sun

Just in case the ladies in the house thought I was being a little biased, here's some dirty man buns, courtesy of Signal Cycles Home of Cyclocross Pornography.

Under the strip light

This has also made my day, seen on julie beth's tumblr. Courtesy of the always immaculate BikeEXIF! Thanks!

Mahamaya Fixpress

How awesome is this??? Mahamaya Fixpress is an Indian restaraunt's bicycle messenger delivery service in Bern. I want to start something like this for Big John's pizza! I've already designed the shirts! Seen whilst browsing Fixed Gear Switzerland!

Happy birthday Bootsy, Keith and Seth!

Happy birthday Bootsy Collins, Keith Strickland and Seth MacFarlane!

Speedrush

Must get myself a copy of Speedrush, a new photographic book on Basel messengers. Sounds incredible, love the dissertation by the shooter: Bike messengers are never drained or exhausted. They don't need breaks, they always ride fast, they feel the head wind only as a faint hiss in their ears, and they think of a rainstorm as an interesting meteorological phenomenon, adding variety to their job.

Thanks to Fixed Gear Switzerland for putting me onto it!

Candy Cranks Halloween Ride

Not to be outdone by the Melburn crew, the Sydney ladies will be caterwauling down Crown Street on All Hallow's Eve. Gonna be a big one this year! Go Candy Cranks!!!

Prolly A-Go-Go

This could be either a random photograph of an old hub in some beat-up forks or a deeply passionate portrait of heat and steel, speed and style. I choose the latter. See more deeply passionate portraits of John Prolly's Stuttgart Merckx on his flickr!

Pshychic A-Go-Go

Filing this under reference for a new project too... One of the most ornate and beautiful paint jobs on a bicycle I've ever seen, a Malvern Star pista frame. Seen over on Cycling Weapon of Mass Destruction! Lovely.

Miss you less, see you more

One of my favorite blogs, The Daily Rider, made a visit to the Ducati factory and museum in Bologna, Italy, and grapped this snap of one of the earliest Ducati motorised bicycles. Check out the plunger rear suspension! Here's a bike that would look at home on todays streets as it would have in 1945. Especially with the renewed interest in sticking little engines on bicycles, and this is where Ducati started out. So the cycle begins again...

Discositdown

Happy birthday Spike Jonze and Timothy Leary! It's that time of year again...

Look out across the fields, see me returning

I'm in a Pegoretti mood today.

While other snakes just shed their skins

Work by the legendary Dario Pegoretti. Filing under reference... See more images and technical details on Competitive Cyclist.

Call me immature, call me a poseur

Spotted over on the always exciting Pedal Consumption, secret shots of the new Superb store in Boston. Well done Superb on a fantastic renovation and good looking location that is certain to become a hub for cyclist culture in Boston! Loving the wallpaper!

But I cannot seem to see that side

A bike that could almost rival Macbeth's Capo... Grant's new Giant Omnium. Unbelievable! Seen o J Fox's flickr!

You know the fellas good for the moolah

Possibly the hottest cargo-bike I've ever seen, and apparently the Bullitt by Larry VS Harry is the world's FASTEST cargo bike also, it carries an official CMWC Tokyo seal to prove it! My favourite's the John Player Spezial, but it's a toss-up between it and the Clockwork... Via Copenhagen Cycle Chic!

Whatever you want, I got it by the dozen

Can anyone tell me where I can pick up one of these in Australia? London Cycle Chic!

UPDATE: Andy left me a comment from this post, Morgans Bicycles is the distributer of Velorbis bikes in Australia. So if you like the look of the Velorbis bikes, get along and say hi! I'll definitely be doing some more research into this!

Broke the record, found the gold

J. KNICE CLOTHING has produced only 24 shirts with this Cyclista de los Muertos design, in memory of the cyclists that have fallen this year. See if you can get your order in. But if you can't, remember the whole reason about Halloween and Dia de los Muertos is that the spirits of our deceased are wandering around and are closest to us at this time of the year. So keep them in mind. Thanks Tracko for the heads up!

Doing the mess around

Was going through the archives last night and found this pic of TC, on Australia's first and last L 'Eroica. That was a good ride. Really should do it again!
