My Eloise is like the stars that please the night

This is a wall-sized mural on a drive-thru liquor shop in my hometown. It's actually the label of a locally made wine, 'Rolling' by a maker called Cumulus Wines. I'm trying to track down some more info about the artist... But in the meantime, have a go, it's a damn good drop!

The summer days are gone too soon, you shoot the moon

Lovely long weekend back in Orange, max temperature of 7 degrees but sunny, divine weather. Headed out to Canowindra on Sunday which is a tiny country town that is realising that it doesn't have to keep up with the larger rural centres and instead focus on maintaining its cultural heritage to attract the tourist dollar. Some nice cafés, boutiques profiling local designers, renovated pubs for lunch and accommodation etc. All make up for a delightful weekend away from the city.
This lovingly restored Speedwell was parked outside the Bendy Street Emporium, looking a treat. Some nice pinstriping going on there, even on the rims!

Taken down at Woolloommooloo on one of those crazy mornings when you find yourself down at Woolloommooloo. With two of my my babies. I know where one of them is. The third one, well, I don't know where she is at all...

When the emptiness finds you, you find all the numbers you need

Met up with my mate Sticks tonight for a couple of beers at The Clarendon on Devonshire St. He rocked up with his old Azonic DS1. What a legend of a bike, 10 years old and still looking as phat as it ever did. This bike has won State downhill champs and is now running 25:12, still going strong! Word!

Cumulus Wines

One of my favourite wines from the Orange region, Rolling by Cumulus Wines. For obvious reasons. The ROLLING label features the fictitious 'retro character, ‘Beatrice’, riding her bicycle through rolling hills. These hills are typical of the landscape at the beautiful Cumulus Wines Estate vineyard. Beatrice is a proud, confident, country woman. Beatrice's scarf is in the colours of the local football team while the oranges in her basket point to the brand's locality.

Mark Renshaw... The boy from Bathurst

What a fantastic Tour de France 2009 finish for Mark Cavendish (6 stages!) but in my opinion Cav's real hero is Mark Renshaw... The boy from Bathurst, leading him over the line on the Champs-Élysées. Phil Liggett said it himself, 'This man can win stages'. Great strength and control, and a typical country boy lack of fear when attacking the corners. October 22nd, almost a Scorpio!

Pretty much... Heaven will be like this. Son, take a good look around, this is your hometown. Orange Skate Park and velodrome next door. Run whatcha brung! PS: that local grrrl is straight off that Dinosaur Jr cover and she was flipping 360s over the hip and manuals across the table top... RAD!

Borrodell on The Mount

Spent New Years day at Borrodell on the Mount, Orange's most boutique winery. And truffière. And accommodation. Quite possible my favourite view in the whole world. More here.
